Patrizia C. is a barriqued grappa, aged 6 months in small and oak barrel. The color is intense as long aging distillates and interprets the tannic contribution of the new oak barrel that can be perceptible in the mouth without excessive astringency. It holds hints of fruit in harmony with those of tobacco, vanilla and chocolate. This Grappa is a tribute to my mother-in-law Patrizia, who has always believed in and supported my ideas. The starting distillate is Gemma Lepini aged 6 months in new French Limousin oak barrels (with split staves for a more efficient micro-oxygenation). 6 months aging endowed the distillate with hints of oak wood and other 6 months in the glass provided an adequate roundness that, during the tasting, is suddenly interrupted by the “burning flavour" due to the selected alcohol content. The colour is intense like the one of a distillate of long aging and interprets the tannic contribution of the new cask perceptible in the mouth without excessive astringency. It is characterized by hints of fruit in harmony with those of tobacco, vanilla and chocolate.
How to pair it
Grappa Patrizia C. is excellent for meditation and mixology and can be tasted as it is, with ice and orange peel, at the end of a meal as a digestive liqueur. Excellent pairing with meze (typical aperitif finger food) chocolate, dried fruit and cakes.
